Does anyone else dislike the signal stalks?
I came from an Acura, with what feels like now are "cheap" signal stalks. I love BMW's 3 flash signal, and how you can cancel them by pressing up or down. Maybe it's my hands, but when I want to turn right and flip that signal up though, I sometimes push it forward instead of up, or I really have to grab it with 2 fingers to make sure I have signaled 100%
Anyone else run into this? PS, wish the 3 signal was really like 5-6 blinks |

Funny, I hate on non "BMW type" signal stalks how the whole shaft goes up or down, I love how simple the BMW style is, I find it more a luxury than cheap.
I do aggree with having 5-6 blinks on the "passing" signal though

BMW's quality int he stalks in far superior, it's just getting it to go up. Normally II'd just flick the turn signal with one finger, but on my 335 I haven't mastered it yet at 6 months haha.

My father who drives all US vehicles loves my turn stalk, and how it is automated, and how it doen't click in a cheap way.

You'll get used to it and not like "regular" types of stalks after a while. My Porsche feel so primitive now. And forget when I drive a car that doesn't have "triple flash" lane changers, people must get mad bacause I end up giving them one flash before I change lanes.

I did that a few times inadvertently at first, but I got over it quickly. But I still push the "resume" button on the cruise stalk when what I want is to change the BC display.

true, i wish it was 5 or 6 blinks.
When i would hit the blinker while keeping my hand on the wheel, i sometimes wouldn't engage the continuous blinker, so i had to get in the habit of taking my hand off the wheel and then reaching for the blinker.. its w/e, just takes some getting used to. |

I agree, it is unusual. The first few days after getting my car, whenever I put the turn signal on (full, not 3 blink) for a lane change, I would always push the other side to turn it off.... but in that process I always pushed it too far and turned on the signal for the other side.
Very embarrassing. |

BMW stalks feel cheap. I much prefer Nissan's. Soft luxurious feel without being clicky clacky.

I think the cruise control stalk on our cars are retarded. BMW could have done a much better job designing that system.

I don't understand. I think it's a great design in it's simplicity and intuitiveness. You dont have to fumble to find the on button then the set button on a steering. Push forward to set, push again for + 1 mph, push hard for + 5mph. The reverse for decel that also brakes for you. IMO I think all cruise belong on a stalk. The e30 an e36 had it on the stalk the e46 went to steering buttons, the e90 went back to stalk now it seems we are back to steering buttons again. Ahhh well....

It took me a little bit to get used to the signal stalks, but I really like them now. I also like the cruise control concept, but the positioning could be better.

The only complaint I have about the stalks is that I can not see the indicator light on the wiper controls to know if they are on or not. They did take a little bit of getting used to but now that I have adapted I feel like everything I need is right at my finger tips when I need it.
