after warranty

I would like to know of your experience with BMW service after your warranty expires: either the 50000 mile warranty or the 100000 mile warranty. Do they recommend more service because now you have to pay?

Just take your car to the dealership using one of their coupon/discount oil changes. You will then get 1st hand experience of how the dealer will look over your car with a fine tooth comb and give you a list of problems with your car. If you DIY, you pay for the oil change, take the list and fix it at a huge savings. Or take it to your INDY to fix it. Dealers are there and everyone else in this world are here to make money. They will not let you walk away without trying to sell you other repairs.

That is why I never bought into inspection 1, inspection 2 (Now it is the CBS system).....those inspections occur every time you go to a dealer.

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

usually extended manufacture warranties are a good idea to have. Just like what you asked them before, if you had to have a head gasket replaced, it would pay for itself and that is only if you needed head gaskets. What about any other repairs make before then? Its a good idea IMO.

My one experience was with a '99 328i that I kept until 97,000 miles. My one expense after warranty (36k miles, 3yr. back then) which would have been covered was a $1,100 A/C repair job - so I was way ahead by not opting for an extended warranty. And my dealer recommends the same service, whether in or out of warranty.

Since they have to make money off this insurance, it can't usually be true. I tend to think it might be closer on the 335i, but I don't like close to $4,000 for some BMW programs is going to pay out for most people.
