Not so good..Accident

Guys...

Not something anybody will be pleased with happened with me today. I was starting to working and a guy in my apartment's parking lot backed up a little too fast without looking properly and this happened:

Filed a claim with his insurance co. already. Looks like if all works out well, they will cut me a check and I can take it anywhere I want.
Any idea on estimates for repairs? I am thinking about some $Ks...

damn....I got rearended 2 weeks ago and was wondering the same. They tried to quote $3500 for the rear bumper, quarter panel, paint, and supports etc to get fixed. When they got into it, they found out the frame needs to be pulled and all kinds of other stuff needs to be replaced. Im guessing like $6-8k in stuff. For yours, I would guess at least $3-4k since I doubt there is frame damage. But I would still have someone check. They said the frames damage easy on these cars. I doubt it from that angle but you never know.

Right on the quater panel? they may try to put some rods in there and pull out the indent but they probably will replace the whole panel. Looks like a 5k+ job.

That really sucks, its going to be hard for somebody to buy a used E9X in the future that is accident free, wow there have been a lot of fender benders lately.

Take it in to a body shop for an estimate. Seems like the most logical way to get an estimate.

When I got rear ended a few years back, their insurance company told me to go to their recommended body shop. Did some research and they had a lot of customer complaints. They did an estimate anyways. Then I took to a highly reputable body shop and the estimate was $2000 more. Just be careful with the estimates you get. I always demand OEM parts. Not some knock off junk.

Don't forget to claim for diminishing value. This will appear in carfax, so if you were planning to sell it, be ready to lose more money b/c of the repairs, regardless if they're able to get back to 'pre-loss' condition. It's not that hard to figure out repairs were done.

Took it to a body shop today and got an estimate for $5k. Got an appt tomorrow with the ins adjuster for their quote. A problem I have is that the closest authorized BMW repair center is a abt 160 miles away. Will it be okay if I get it repaired at a local body shop that works on German cars?
