HPFP Failure please help.
Hi I was driving home from work today and I was in traffic at a red light, when all of the sudden the car started to vibrate violently, and the service engine soon light came on. The vibration had happened one other time before, so I just turned off the car and turned it back and and it was fine, so I did the same this time and it went away, but the light was still there. So I drove home carefully and plugged in my OBD II and the error code P142E came on. I checked on google it was the HPFP failure. My question is if I leave it at the dealer tomorrow what is the estimated fix time for this issue?

Usually takes a couple days, or more. They have to diagnose, get BMW NA ok to replace the pump, do the work, reprogram the car, and test.
Figure two days, minimum, could be more. Get a loaner. |

This dealership keeps saying crap about how I am to make a 3 week ahead schedule in order to get a loaner which is just ridiculous. I guess im not a high paying customer for them.

Did you purchase the car from the dealer? Even if they won't give a dealer loaner most dealerships in major markets have arrangements with rental agencies, whereas it might cost you $40 or something it's better than nothing. Try that

just had my HPFP replaced couple days ago.
Took the whole weekend + Monday, total time in shop ~ 4 days BMW needs to get this issue resolved. After the ABC investigation, things are picking up, and rightfully so. If someone has died because of this issue, BMW will be in a world of hurt. You will most likely get the RMFD 933 HPFP. Its actually newer than the 943 pump. So far, I do not see any known HPFP failures from using the 933 HPFP as of yet.

Yea this dealership wont honor anything. Although I did purchase the vehicle from them. Yes I was scared to go on the highway on my way back from work as I had no idea what was wrong with the car. It was shaking violently. The car seems to be lacking power now. Hopefully the new HPFP wont have this problem, my car only has 15k miles.

Edit: I know you're scared to go on the highway, but there are no alternate dealers near that dealer or same distance to that delaer?

Here are the fault codes I had when they replaced the HPFP last week:
"FC 29F2 and 29DC stored in DME."

I dropped mine off on a Wednesday night and it was done the next afternoon, maybe my dealer stocks the parts but it was painless and has worked fine for 9k miles. Good luck.
