Dealer fix (tires only) + JB3
my RFT has a leak. I have wheel insurance so I have to bring it to BMW so they can replace it... free of charge of course.
I have a JB3 installed with Map 5... I dont have a BT tool to clear the code (was waiting on the CAN tool for the 07 models to be released). Anyone think the dealer will scan the car for codes just for a replacement tire? Im going to put the car back on map 0 and there arent any check engine lights. I plan on waiting on the car while they change the tire. --- I dont want to risk driving on my completely flat tire (it wont hold air). And I dont have time to buy the BT tool and have it shipped and then clear the code. Thoughts?

No, but they might do a key scan routinely, which MIGHT show up something. And there is also the recall issue -- they might want to keep your car to update the software, and then they WILL find out.

better safe than sorry bro, fork the money for the BT or find someone with the Pro version and give them some cash. It's a whole lot better than voiding your warranty

I told my SA I will come in tomorrow morning. I didn't make an official appointment I just gave him a heads up on when I'd be coming in for a tire replacement and he said that was fine. Im going to remove the DCI, put the car on map 0, and ask for them to replace the tire while I wait. I'll tell them Im in a rush so I doubt they will scan the car. Hopefully I will be in and out.
Yes I'd love to just clear the code but I'd have to find the BT tool locally which i cant find. I found a 3rd party BMW shop so I may call them in the morning and see how much they will charge to clear the codes for me

All depends on the dealership. Mine is not mod friendly at all, but another BMW dealer 80miles the other direction offered to sell and install JB3. lol

just buy a JB3....
When I needed my tire replaced, I told him that's all I wanted and nothing else. I went, car went to the back, tire changed, car back to me. All done in about 20 minutes, less. I was stock anyways but still :P don't leave a Jb3 in regardless better be safe than sorry
