my friend wants to sell me his g35 , is it a good car?
i have an e92 335i AT and very happy with it. My friend has a 2003 manual g35 coupe ,second owner with 105,000 miles on it, clean title. He is international student and going back to home country soon so needs to sell his car. He asked some dealers but the offer was too low due to pretty high mileage. Now my friend is asking for $9000. This is a reasonable price that i can get a stick shift without selling my car. The g35 has kenstyle rear bumper, exhaust , 06 style headlight, coilover and 19" wheels. The condition is pretty good , doesnt look like a car with 105,000 miles. What do you guys think? should i get the g35 coupe for a fun car? anyone owns a g35 coupe?

I'd think that your 335i would be your fun car. I know it's mine.

Id rather get an e36 M3 for that price... A local one here is $9600 heavily modded, 6 speed with 98K miles. its a fun car even if it's older, better than a G35 for sure.

I like the g35 and owned one before. To be honest it actually feels more fun than my 335i, although it is alot slower especially if you chip your 335i. However, its more reliable and more fun. For 105K miles, i think you should aim for a lower price than $9K.

I would have to say no, I had a an 03 350z and it wasn't what I expected, slow, interior quality was shady, had transmission and diff problems, it only had 40,000km on it. I know the G is supposed to be the "upper" brand but a friend of mine had an 03 G the same time I had my Z and he had very similar issues. Plus I really don't think you would drive it that much especially with 335i in the garage.

Not to be rude, but why don't you just give it a spirited drive and see for yourself if it's worth having?

It's a fine car, but nothing special. Unless you need money or something and need to sell your 335i, why bother with it though? Why would you want two 6-cyl near-luxury sport coupes? My 2nd car is a Jeep Cherokee, because it can do a lot of things my 335i isn't suited for.

If your friend's G35 is in truely good shape and can be sold for $13-14k (in my experience KBB is almost always higher than market price though), I would buy it off your friend for $9k since he needs to sell it quick, then take your time selling it for the true market value. A G35/37 would be a good DD for me in the same class as a 335i, not really a weekend fun car.
Since you already have a 335i coupe as a daily driver, I would pick something a bit more extreme for a fun weekend car, like say a stick 911 coupe/vert, corvette, older track prepped M3, or maybe even a spec Miata. Just my 2 cents. |

I loved my G. Great car. 2003, great car and never a problem. Amazing sound too and the new ones are very fast. They also feel fast too.
however 9 grand might be hard to get...i I let mine go for $8,500 and it was immaculate, 2003 G35 Sedan 5AT w/ premium rims and paint that shined brighter than a new car.... |

lol I have a 2001 Infiniti QX4 with 140k miles on it, it's been stuck in the mud overnight, off roading, not kept up with maintenance at all, 2 car accidents and it still runs better than my 335i. However it seems to me you could use that 9k to upgrade your 335i to something better...

Oh I totally forgot about that turbo kit coming for the N54. Save your 9k for that bad boy!
