Back Window tint remove question

So I got pulled over yesterday for front window tinting.. Sucks but o well I thought maybe it is a good chance for me to just remove all the tints since Im having 20% on the sides and 35% or lighter for the back (from previous owner) which looks weird...

Anyway.. the question is:
Is it safe to remove the tint on the back window? What is the chance I'll have a damaged defrost line?
Im gonna have the shop to do it for me tho.

Thanks.

Raymond

Not to sound like a jackass, but if you're not doing it yourself then it really doesn't matter does it? If they slice through and break the wiring in the defroster circuit, they will have to pay for a new rear window and/or fix. Just ask about it when you bring it in.. "if you break the defroster you're going to fix it, right?"

Yeah I have to do the same thing and have been putting it off.
My tint fogged up on the back window and I need to get it replaced but was wondering if it would cause me problems later on.

Just had my rear window replaced in my 06 330i for the same reason. I believe that the previous owner tinted the glass and then removed it to turn the car in at the end of their lease. While removing the tint it pulled a portion of the grid off.

Never noticed the broken grids until I tried to use the window defroster only worked in two small spots.

Never gave much thought that the windows may have been tinted, even though i found residue in the corners of the side windows and rear glass until the dealer asked if I had the windows tinted and removed. Just thought the residue may have been bad "house cleaning"

Sounds like this may be a common problem when removing tint from rear glass.

The rear window tint they cut on the outside of the rear window and then install so they never touch the defroster on the rear
