moving the 335is with doors open

OK I was wrong. The DCT in the 2011 335is will not engage in forward or reverse if the drier's side door is open. This is stupid in my book. What if my door is open and some nut drives to climb in. I can't speed away?? Good thing I have my conceled firearm permit.

Yea, I was kinda pissed at the fact that my car would simply engage park even as it was creeping forward. That can't be good for the transmission.

my X5 does this crap too, first noticed it at the car wash when I was trying to creep forward a few inches to line up the vac. hoses, next was annoyed by it when I was pulling into my messy garage and trying not to wreck anything.

good thing the f10 doesnt have it .. at least i dont think it does

thats always a good reason to carry a concealed firearm mmmm
you are forced to confront and neutralize nuts who you would otherwise speed away from, if your car would let you

Is the door switch easily accessible when the door is open? If so can you push on it so the car thinks the door is closed?

Put your seatbelt on. It will stay in drive.

So who wants to be the brave one... drive 60+ mph and open a door haha....

I would assume it would be up to a certain speed.

"P - Park
Select this only when the vehicle is stationary. The rear wheels are locked.
The transmission is shifted into P if, with the engine running, you open the driver's door, do not have your safety belt fastened, and subsequently actuate neither the brake pedal nor the accelerator."

I know how it works but can someone translate this from German English to English English??

I found another strange thing about the DCT . When the shift is to the left ,in sport mode, and park is depressed, the shift lever it jerked to the right before going into park. Weird feeling to have the shift pulled out of your hand.

I actually have two black skid marks in my garage from my dct putting it in park when I was reversing and opened the door... Grrr.... Not big mind you, I was only idling, but it was annoying as hell. Overall I like the dct (came from 6mt) but it does have some real aggravating features.

yup, in a way anoying. But keep your seatbelt fastened while manoeuvring and there is no problem.

hum, that sounds kinda annoying.

Anyway to disable that feature? I guess DCT isn't good at everything. Old school tiptronics have their advantages.
