Tool Kit and Trunk Accessories?

Hey Guys,
I have a question regarding an 2011 335xi E92 tool kit and what’s supposed to be under the trunk cover?

Here’s a pic of my tool kit, what’s missing?

Here’s a pic of under my trunk floor, is there anything missing? I see some shinny threaded brass inserts but nothing attached. What's supposed to be here??

Did all E92’s come with a first aid kit as I don't have one? Also did they all come with that "hazard triangle" as I'm missing that as well?

Thanks!!

Your tool kit is missing
-Sunroof Motor Crank
-8mm & 10mm Open Ended Wrench
-Lug Nut Lock Adapter (If Equipped)

Not sure about Trunk

-Depending what year your car, Warning Triangle goes either on the left side of the trunk near the top of the trunk Or On the trunk lid itself
-First Aid Pouch goes in the right beside the tool kit

That's what My '11 E92 looks like and same with my '07 E92...Pretty bare. The top left of the tool kit will hold an emergency wrench for your sunroof and the one below it will hold the key for your wheel locks if you have them.

If I have to do any work on my car, I wouldn't rely on the tool kit in the trunk anyway though, so I don't mind.

They quit adding the sunroof crank and wrenches during the 08 model year I believe. In fact I'm not even sure you can buy the sunroof wrench which would be a nice to have. If you were equipped with factory wheel locks that should be there.

No NA cars get the first aid kit or triangle. There even have been stories of folks doing ED and leaving the kits in the car only to have them removed at the port.

Having the window crank tool may be important tool to have. That is to say, if it did not come with your car already.

Your tool kit is equipped the same as all of the other BMW's sold in the United States since MY '08, or so. If you're anal like me and just want the missing tools in your tool kit, as well as the first aid kit and the warning triangle, just order them from Tischer or ECS Tuning. That's what I did.

I'm such a perfectionist, I even ordered and installed the under-hood insulation that stopped being installed in MY '09 or '10.

Did you notice any difference after installing the under hood insulation? Was a simple snap-on installation?

I ordered the open end wrench and the sunroof crank from my dealer for under $10...worth it to me just to not have to look at those empty spaces.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next generation 3-series "tool kit" comes with only a nail file and chimes to summon the butler.

I ordered the sunroof crank and wrench from Tischer.

54 10 7 199 321 - sunroof crank
71 11 1 182 747 - small wrench

My wheel lock key did not fit the slot allocated because it was the "enhanced" (puzzle style) lock, and it did not have the concave top portion. The standard wheel lock key will fit.

I ordered the Euro warning triangle from LeatherZ. ECS did not have any of the OEM BMW Euro triangles in stock (with the blue box). They only had the red box which they don't guarantee to fit. LeatherZ also provided the mounting hardware.

I skipped the First Aid kit, and just stuck a Johnson & Johnson first aid kit that I had in the previous car into the same slot (fit perfectly standing up, with room for extra stuff next to it like hand wipes in a baggie, and a travel container of Griot's Speed Shine Wipes (for the inevitable bird bombs)).

It was a simple snap in installation that took all of 5 minutes. The biggest reason I did it was that my hood would get very hot after driving for awhile and then parking. It would often be too hot to touch for more than a few seconds without it becoming uncomfortable. Whether this was an actual problem, or not, is debatable, but I didn't like the potential long term effects the heat may have had to the paint on the hood. The insulation has resolved this issue and I'm happy I spent the money on it.

Hood insulation also helps to keep the engine noise down.

Ordered & installed hood insulation also. Don't forget to get the retainer plugs to secure the mat to the hood. I ordered 10....think I needed only 8 of them though.
