Do you wave at other BMW owners?

I've had my 335i for about 8 months now. This is my first BMW and the 3rd car I've ever owned. In the first month I had the car, I had around 10 people (also in BMWs) wave at me as I passed by. It kind of caught me off guard, so I never waved back. By the time it donned on me what had happened, I had already driven past.

Since then, I have made it a point to wave at people who I would consider 'enthusiasts.' Where I live, it seems like there are 3 or 4 BMWs at every 4-way stop light, but I feel like I can identify those who are enthusiasts vs. those who just drive a BMW (M cars, etc). I sometimes give them a quick wave, and they sometimes do the same. Sometimes not. No big deal, really.

So today, I'm leaving a gated community and I pass by a very nice E90 M3. I had one hand on the wheel, so I raised a few fingers as we passed each other at about 10 mph. The guy just drove on by. Anyway, just curious if any of you are the type who wave or the type who just drive by.

If they wave first, then I wave. But I see older M3's and M5's, speed to catch up with them and they just look at me and not care. Not as much as a ethusist as I am I suppose.

Most BMW drivers are old people rolling stock. You can tell if its an enthusiast or not by the mods theyve done. I see hundreds of old people with blue tooths rolling around in their stock bimmers. I have yet to wave at another BMW because i have yet to see another fellow BMW enthusiast.

Ha. I never get the wave. I always wondered about it though. Thinking maybe I need to mod the car more. I'm a waive kinda guy.

I know it's a big thing in Subaru's. In my wifes stock wrx, every sti or wrx I drove by would wave.
In my buds 2.5i though, I would not get jack. Maybe they Gage it by the hoo scoop in that case.

Modded cars maybe. it's such a common car these days. I think Jeep owners actually wave to each other. Or my friends are just crazy, but thats also possible.

Me and my friend one day went up to the Secret BMW Test Center in Socal, and he had a brand new 2011 135i. So we took his plates off and made it look almost as if he was driving a test car, and we drove around to catch some spy shots, and we followed the real test drivers around as they left the gate. As we drove by some of them, they thought we were actual testers and they waved at us with their special wave, which is a peace, and sometimes we would wave first and they would wave back thinking we work there .

Well I live in Palm Springs so dudes around here driving nice bimmers usually like other dudes lol (not that there's anything wrong with this). But yeah I'll occasionally have the urge to give some sort of gesture. If I do gesture I usually give the "peace" sign while my hand is on the steering wheel, which can be easily modified into the middle finger by itself

Not sure how it is anywhere else, but here in socal, if you see another modded BMW its basically open season and you gotta be as douchey as possible trying to prove whos dick is bigger (typically entails but not limited to: weaving in and out of traffic, ricer flybys, racing from light to light, etc).

No this what happens with special rare cars.

My father got it alot in the early nineties with his Lancia Delta Intergrale Evo.

Not with a E9X bimmer!
