Best way to clear codes before dealer visit?

Hey guys, just wondering what the best off-the-shelf tool is for clearing codes prior to a dealer service visit.

I want the beat bang for buck possible, and I need to pick it up today as my service appt is for tomorrow. I guess I could reschedule, but I'd rather just deal with this as soon as possible.

On that note, anyone in te SF Bay Area willing to help a fellow tuned n54 out with some code clearing help? I'll bring a six pack for your troubles

Can tool is only for 08+ at the moment so while it is certainly compatible with OP's car, the BT has not been phased out completely yet

You can go to an autoparts store, Autozone, Pepboys etc, and have it scanned and cleared for free. Though having a BT scan tool is a great convenience. I use mine at least twice a month.
