New 2011 Contrast in color stitching
Just picked up my new 2011 328xi. End of lease for our 2008xi.
The specs. Space Gray Black leather Sport pkg Paddles Steptronic Navigation Satellite Fold down rears Heated Steering Vaue pkg MSRP $45960 I had not realized some of the improvements both exterior, interior and I drive. Mine was a post Sept build and has a number of the upgrades already discussed on this forum. Exterior wise, the reshaped front end and hood gives an overall sportier front end. The Sept build also includes deviated contrast stitching on the black sport seats. Looks real nice. The new Nav and features are really a big difference from the 2008. Real pleased. Yes - they did take away the ash tray cover and moved the power outlet to the side front passenger area. No big deal for me. Also, a plug for JMK BMW in Springfield NJ. Great to deal with and very competitive with pricing. Ask for Lucas. He made the delivery a great experience. He surely earned my appreciation for a job well done. Congrats on your the ride. I have a custom order coming in (328i) deep blue sea and can't wait to get in my new ride. Got a big discount for being stationed in Germany!

During the delivery the saleman pointed out the stitching being slightly lighter than the black interior and that the cars coming in this month are showing this contrast. Very subtle yet noticeable.

To keep things in perspective, my 335 coupe was less than $800 more on the MSRP, as a 2007 model. Just goes to show you that if BMW throws a party, people will come. The price keeps going up, yet they don't fix the inherent defects in the E9x.

The contrast stitching in that pic is more noticable because of the lighter color of the seats but how would it really show contrast with black leather?
So this contrast stitching was not on pre Sept cars? |

Jeez, why such the negative outpouring on one extremely small detail? To each his own, but I like it. It's just like everyone has their choice of color leather (or leatherette) and now you can choose to have contrast stitching. I don't fully understand why everyone is so ready to bash BMW for the smallest thing. Don't we congregate here because we like them?

If it's a free option, that's a good thing. I was under the impression it was just the way it's done now, hence the skepticism.
As for liking BMW... I have to say that my opinion of BMW has gone dowwwwwn after all the SW nonsense with the 335i. As others have pointed out, it's not fair to sell a $50K car and then change it significantly later via software. (Apple doing it to their $200 iPhone is a big enough scandal -- this is a much heftier purchase.) |
