335is dct owners, how do you drive...
Just curious for regular everyday driving do you prefer just using the D, S, M, modes on the DCT, do you like mixing it up? Still trying to get adjusted to the ride for the 335is.

I normally drive in sport/sport mode. Long cruising on the highway is the only time I have it in drive. I use manual mode only on occasion, since s seems to be fairly good for picking the right cog.

Commute is generally Sport/D. If I'm having fun I'm in manual. Rarely use S.

I use "S" mode with "Sport" button depressed most of the time.
Gas mileage suffers, but car feels much more responsive and I'd set this as the default mode if only there was such an option in the i-drive. |

"D" on the hwy only. Its nice to be able to just hit the paddle and downshift anytime for exit/on ramps. "S" for all other driving.

Hello, I'm a noob and I have a new 335is
I like to use S and the sport button for most driving because it has better response and I like the shift points better. I use D when I'm lazy and I forget, and use M when I'm having fun. |

I don't own a 335is but I recently took a lengthy test drive and I used M the whole time.
Great car. Enjoy all.

Do you guys know how the car's software adjusts available boost if you drive with that button pressed all the time? Supposedly it gives you 7 seconds - if you theoretically have a constant demand for the overboost, does it only kick in again if you're on it full throttle? I'd like to believe that BMW wrote the programming so that it will make no difference in boost if you are not hard on the gas and I'd hope that it doesn't keep allowing peak boost levels just because you demand it. Can anyone clarify? I barely use my sport button but I do like how the car reacts to my inputs when it is on.

Not at all.
If in "Sport/Manual" (gearshift lever) and "Sport" (button) mode, it definitely uses more gas. My mileage often drops almost 50% compared to using "D" mode around town. This isn't a waste of gas, but the price to bring a grin to your face every time you punch the throttle. |

using S/sport mode is similar to switching on a moderate tune... increased throttle response, and best of all the DCT shifts amazingly FAST!

i only wish M was the default when you switch to M/S... actually I would like it to be M as the default and you move the stick to A mode like the old SMG2.
