2006 BMW 330i e90 vs Audi A6 C6 3.2
Hi everyone,
I know I am going to get rant at so I am prepared for it just in case My 330i is currently at 80k (Sport Premium Cold Weather Logic 7 with Jet Black on Black Dakota Leather). I was looking at some craigslist posting and I found an Audi A6 3.2 (newer model with trapezoidal grille) Quattro with blue exterior and grey interior (I know it's not the popular combo) with 74k miles (navigation, bose sound, parking sensor, non-sport). I test drive the car and felt that the steering is far much lighter than my car and more comfy. However, the steering wheel is very thin and not as hand-gripping as my OEM sport steering wheel. Although the car has the same horsepower, I felt less power. The dealer offered me straight trade. Considering that winter is coming around, this might be a good idea ? What do you guys think? What do you guys think? I am single and usually have only girlfriend riding in the front and occasional friend in the back so space is not really an urgent issue for me this time. |

I would definitely not do that. Your E90 is a much nicer, better built car. If winter concerns you, just get a good set of snow tires.
After a very brief fling with Audi, I will never even consider getting another.

My brother is an Audi person and he had two A6's as well as a current A5. I would not get that car if I were in your boat. It will not drive as well and my brother always had loaners (as you can imagine why!!! This car was always in the shop). All in all, the A6 is a boat and for your purposes (no family, etc.) I would not make this move. You may regret it long term.
Cliffnotes: Keep the 330...

The A6 is more of a mature car while the Aruba Blue is more suited for the A4 or A3 (Scuba Blue). I'm a blue car person so I'd take that trade up in a heart beat. If you're tired of the 330i, brand-hopping is a fun deal.
But the dealer offering you a straight trade means there's something to be made off your car or that Aruba Blue's hard to get rid of. Something to think about...

I've never seen that audi in person, but it has an older feel to it when looking at the pics. It is super nice, but 330 seems a little nicer. that was part of the reason I got rid of my E46, just started to feel dated.

No, don't do it. Salesman will do the straight trade b/c he knows he can get more for your car than he will for the Audi....b/c your car is the better car! You will regret it if you do it. The couple of times I've driven Audi.....never felt as connected to the road...

The A6 is a great car, more mature than a 3 series but also roomier. However I'd never by an Audi with 74K miles, especially from a private owner. There will be issues and they will be expensive.

Seriously... never buy that A6 with 74k miles. The 330 is reliable and has less electronics to break/glitch. Stick to it...

Buy an Audi...regret it for a long time. If you think your BMW has high maintenance requirements/costs...
