Aaaaaargh! *I* Keyed my car!!!

Yes folks the gods of damned bad luck and crappy weather have struck!

There I was calmy walking back to my car after pickup some breakfast from a local sainsbury's when I slipped on the icy floor and left three nice deep key marks in the top of my boot lid! FFS, I've only had it for 10 days!!!

Thankfully my office is right next door to an authorised BMW body shop. I guess I'll pop over there at lunchtime

Sorry to hear that mate. It is very slippery today. These things always happen when the car is brand new!! Hopefully it won't cost a small fortune to fix, but probably!!

Let us know this afternoon how it goes.

Well, I have my office and house keys on the same ring so obviously more than just a plastic fob! (

I know how it feels to have a damaged car.

Sorry to hear, but I'm sure it will get sorted and soon be looking good as new.

I feel your pain. A few years ago I damaged my E39 5-Series when it was only a few weeks old. I went to the local DIY store to buy a length of plastic downpipe. I knew it wouldn't fit in the car, so I took a saw with me to cut it in half. After buying the pipe, I cut it in half in the car park, and then managed to score an 8" line down the paintwork along one of my doors with the saw teeth as I was manouvering between my car and the one parked next to me. I was gutted, and had to live with that mark for the next two and a half years (company car). It *almost* polished out, but I could always see it.

Here's a true horror story. When I was in my youth I worked in a body shop. Part of my job was to wash the cars. One day I was not up to par when washing a recently painted car in the paint booth (don't know why it needed washing to begin with, probably just a rinse, but...). As I was maneuvering the hose around, I pulled and turned and the nozzle scraped about six or eight inches along the black door. I guess that's what happens when a computer programmer tries to work where he doesn't belong.

Aaahhh - that it explains it. So if you didn't have all your keys on the same keyring...

Sorry... its just that I tend to keep all my keys separate... I think I remember reading somewhere that manufacturers recommend keeping transponder style keys separate from other keys... for interference or summat!

Hope you get it fixed soon.
