The Audi RS4 in the UK starts at £51k, so £48k would be quite cheap really particularly when you consider that the E46 M3 with SMG would have been £47k on the road.

If the back is like this..............................OMG I like it
If it`s true, BMW had a perfect mule, the number plate on the mule is of course there where to expect. Nobody would expect a totaly different back, at least I did not. Indeed; expect the unexpected.................. |

Substantially over $60k...
Since you can never use currency conversions to among prices in different countires a simple ratio is probably much better. Given that the RS4 is $66k base here in the US this means about $62k base price for the new M3. Ugh, substantially more than we have all been guessing. I do really dig the pics so far, thanks. Please good scans ASAP!!

I will say this, the pics look great and I think if the M3 looks like that or close then its pretty bad ass in my book. However, the shiney window surrounds dont make a lot of sense for an M3.
The 0-60 time of 4.9 is a good number. Some will say, well hey, the E46 could do that with a skilled driver. Well the BMW released 0-60 time was not 4.9 for the E46. I am sure road tests will see times as low as 4.5sec. The price? yikes!... even a good comparison of 62K compared to the 66K of the RS4 is pretty high. Thats a good 12-13k over base for the outgoing E46. Thats a lot and a 22K premium over the 335i coupe. That is a huge gap!!! A base of 62K would have you walking out the door well equiped in the 70K range.. that is just crazy. In that price range I would rather have a used Z06, 997S, brand new Caymen S etc.... And finally, releasing official pics and numbers in a random European Magazine???? Jason |

pics look wayyyyyyy too good to be photoshops.... 99.999999% sure they're real
i'm gonna miss a real vent on the side, oh well... one thing that makes me question these pics is this spy shot of the rear http://www.m3post.com/forums/attachm...1&d=1158089473 sure, its easy for them to move the license plate, but this car shows this whole mesh intake that just dissapears for the production version??? |

Thoughts
I am a bit suspicious as to the "official" supposition. The quality of the photos do look quite good (as already mentioned). However, the wheels in a perpetual state of spinning look a bit suspicious. Also the departure from existing BMW design features and trends also seems a bit too radical (license plate location, pseudo side vents, trunk lid shape, etc.). Although I like what I see I would not at all be surprised if the real design is yet to be shown.
For those of you wanting/hoping/dreaming for E90 pictures/articles - don't hold your breath, all the lime light will be on the E92 for some time. PLEASE, SOMEONE - HI-RES SCANS APAP! Thanks! |

That's a joke. If the new M3 comes priced at $90K BMW will loose me as a customer. I'm movin' over to Porsche if that's the case. But I'm not going to get ahead of myself as there's a very good chance that the writer of that article pulled that number out of the sky. And 0-60 (or 62) in 4.9 seconds. That's another joke, right? The 335i is faster than that.

I hope this is a photoshop....
The back is f*cked up, I was thinking of buying one, but if the rear looks like this I will go for a Porsche or a RS4. My God, how can you ruin a car, it looked so nice on the mules........ |

Ugh...
Man, folks, get a clue, you CAN NOT convert the price of a car in a given currency using a std. currency converter to get the price in another currency. Read my earlier post (and use some common sense as well). This obviously was not an actual test as well so don't panic about the BS 4.9 number. We are all betting for (with reasonable certainty) a much better number.
