Lexus' prepared to match competition to the BMW's M3 Series

LEXUS IS-F for BMW M3 (e90)
"We finally have images of Lexus’s high-performance IS-F sedan. Set to go head-to-head with BMW’s M3 and Audi’s RS4, the new Lexus will run a potent 5.0L V8 engine developing in excess of 400hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. The car also gets huge 19inch BBS alloys with six-pot aluminum Brembo calipers clamping 14.2inch cross-drilled discs.

The drivetrain shares the eight-speed transmission from the LS sedan but comes with wheel-mounted paddle shifters that Lexus claims can change gears in a tenth of a second. Suspension upgrades sees the car ride almost an inch lower than the regular IS, while aluminum trim, a quad exhaust outlet and racing bucket-style seats allude to the car’s true potential.

Unlike its German rivals that tend to maintain subtle visual elements, Lexus have gone out and developed a garish aero package with huge side vents that detract from the classy look of the regular sedan. The kit resembles the cheap aftermarket bodykits so often seen on low priced imports.

The “F” designation in the car’s title denotes Lexus’ new performance arm, similar to BMW’s M division or Mercedes’ AMG team. Its designers claim that the new IS-F is capable of completing the 0-60mph dash in less than 4.9 seconds but that the goal in creating the car was not to build a vehicle that’s a competitor to other performance-sport sedans. "

I think the quad exhaust is my favorite feature. Its a unique new design..

Notice it has the vents like the new skyline gt-r. I guess its a japan "fast car" look.

I just find it nice to see that they are stepping their game up. This all should be interesting. The coupe inthe front looks to weird. Must of new cars are having that slope downward in the front geared to pedestrian collision. That design is said to be less of a damage to pedestrians. It's better than they hit the front of the hood rather than get smacked by the car like a wall ran into them.

Not soo bad.. but I'd like to see what it can do.

Rice-a-roni. And they ripped off Montego Blue. Instruments and navi are probably the only things I'd prefer over the BMW equivalent.

w/e the case, its a lexus, so u can expect excellent service and reliablilty with a very smoothe ride, as for sportyness, we'll have to just wait and see, dont dought they could do it, but its coming from a company not known for having zippy cars , but will deffinately be sportier than the is350 ((duhh))

I think every BMW fan is inclined to criticize and hate on whatever Lexus or Infiniti puts out. For whatever reason, BMW fans seem to carry a lot of hate towards the Japanese car makers...more than they'd ever throw towards MB or Audi.

Personally, I'm not a fan but it does look interesting. I like the 3 because it has the perfect blend of performance and elegance IMO. The design is sporty but still classy at the same time. It seems like the Japanese car makers go too far over to the sporty side with some of their cars. If I wanted a pure sports car, I'd go with Porsche or something cheaper like a 350Z.

When I see the IS, the only people I can see driving it are those who are 25 yrs or younger. Doesn't mean it sucks...I just feel like Lexus has gone too far away from the classy look.

Interesting. I see it the other way around. The amount of "xx vs. BMW" threads at g35driver or clublexus is probably, literally, 10x as many as you see here. Not that that's a bad thing, just that BMW is the target and with that comes a lot of flak. If I had a dime for every time someones written "The e92 makes me want to throw up all over myself until I die" or "All BMWs are overpriced piles of ass", I'd own a 6-series.

But ya, of course some guys here just say "whatever it's crap" to other brands too, but I honestly see it less here. I personally like what Infiniti and Lexus are doing. Competition = better for everyone; besides, I have a soft spot for Japanese cars.
