Exclamation DME programming recall

Hello everyone. I just picked up my wife's car at the dealership which was serviced and fixed under warranty for a faulty driver's side door actuator door lock. My wife dropped the car off this morning and according to the SA, there's a DME programming recall that needs to be performed. However, due to time constraint, SA adviced that the car will need to come back for the DME recall at another time.

So, Does anyone know what this DME recall is? Not sure if this is new but we picked up this excellent conditioned CPO'd '07 335i sedan on 4th of July with only 12k miles on the odo. I would've thought everything is up to current when we picked it up at the BMW dealership. I've searched and didn't find anything in regards to the question so hopefully, you guys have info first hand.

According to the paperwork, it's DME programming recall SIB #13-09-10

Great.. thanks DTRJ! That was pretty quick.

Even though i'm fully aware of the HPFP issues, we actually haven't experienced this long engine cranking time (knock on wood) yet so this is good info to keep in mind. Sounds like BMW is trying to alleviate what is or could be related to the HPFP failure.

I am not sure but others have said this procedure allows the HPFP to prime itself sooner and eliminate some of the problems

Called my dealer; not a RECALL. It's done when a problem is perceived by the dealer. Personaly I hate the word recall; people use it like an ink pen. Refer to the NHSTA when when a recall is issued. Now if the dealer does not even know about a recall, that's another issue of training on the BMWNA area.

My understanding is the dealer is supposed to do this for ANY twin-turbo that comes in the shop for any reason at all. Not just for suspected fuel pump problems. Several others have reported getting this done when they went in for a routine service.

I received a call from my stealership here in Fort Myers, FL stating that "I needed a new DME." It was probably a slip of the tongue from the brain-dead service department receptionist, but that's what she said. I then received a confirmation email that outlined my service needs:

The following services have been selected for this appointment:

Recall Services:
RECALL FOR DME

That sounds like a recall to me! Maybe it is the stealership's misnomer.

Any way, I've been through two HPFP, a LPFP, and they replaced the entire fuel delivery system, including the fuel rails and I still get slow starts and sputtering under 75%+ throttle.

Is this hope that my problems are over!?!?! I am not picking it up until those problems are fixed this time!

Had mine in for brakes and SA noticed the call for reprogramming. Seems to drive OK -- not had it out for a good test yet though. Not sure what we have to do to get a 'performance' version that doesn't have the castrated wastegate protection tune.

Is anyone running a tune that had the DME reporgram done? My 07' e90 got reprogrammed yesterday and as soon as i got home and plugged in my JB+ i got a "service engine soon" light on the dash... And this morning on my way to work (W/JB+) i went into limp after the first hard run. I checked the connections on JB+ and they were fine, Also, the car runs strong and feels fine (at least until i went limp). Any thoughts?

Forgot to mention that the car seems to start up much faster now. I wasnt getting any long cranks, but it did take about a second to fire-up before the DME was reprogrammed. Now, it seems to be respond much faster when the start button is hit! Note: I had my HPFP replaced at 1200 miles so i dont have the newer/redisigned version...but, i havent had any issues with it and i'm at 60k miles now.

Probably pretty obvious but did you make sure your car was "asleep" or unplug the battery before throwing the JB+ back in? It's pretty easy to forget to do this given how quick it is to install/uninstall.

It is definitely a recall. My dearlership called me a week ago to have me bring the car in for the B13 09 10 DME reprogram. Picked up the car this morning and after starting it, there isn't the 5 second period of rough idling that was there previosly. Will be putting the JB3 back on tonight after work.

I went in for an oil change last weekend and came out with the upgraded DME and plugs. I had the last update version done to my car about a month ago, it caused the car to have trouble starting (ie longer cranks and rough idles) The new DME seems to have fixed both issues, so far so good!

I haven't done the update but I have to say it's got me a bit worried since I am running a JB3. How the JB3 works is that it blocks certain signals from the CPU, if all the signals came in, then the JB3 would not work. I am not certain about this, but this is what I understand. If the update changes at all how the CPU works then I don't know how well the JB3 would work. Again, am not certain, but definitely worth running through Terry. If it is true though, I think the crew at burger would release a software update for the JB3.

I had the update done a couple of weeks ago... Put the PROcede in after the upgrade... Car runs amazing! A new V8 GTO tried to get playful and he was not happy with the result...

Does this reset the transmission adaptations if the car already had the most recent software prior to the recall?
