Had trouble same way with my 330i. Problem was pump/filter/seal assembly, fixed under warrantee (after two tries...). Not easy to chase on your own - take it to your friendly (or otherwise) dealer.

Wrap the tank in duct tape. This is a trip to the dealer.

It's leaking. The tank holds 6.5 L.

I have not as yet played with the e90 washer tank/pump. On older (last generation) of bmws the pump was mounted to the tank with a rubber grommet that leaked at times. The tank is most likely behind the right front wheel liner. Remove the wheel liner and you'll be able to see if that is the case. I have seen pumps crack (especially in the cold) and this also leads to leaks. The grommet is only a buck or so. Don't reuse the old one as the rubber forms to the way it seats and you can never get it to seal.

LOL--I had this problem once, and then it just kind of went away.....maybe I was lucky!
