E93 and comfort access - can't remotely put top down?

I read somewhere on the forum that once you have comfort access, you can't remotely put the top down on the E93.

Is this true?

If so, why would BMW do such a thing? Doesn't that complete go against the whole idea of comfort access??

I think it's the opposite. You NEED comfort access to be able to lower the top remotely. There has been a delay in comfort access availability for the E93. This option is being readied for March production.

I dont know how someone would know this being that no one has seen the car. I think it is pure speculation.

I doubt it you were able to do it on the old e46 and CA was not available.

Actually you are not correct.

You might want to notify any of your customers thinking it will work remotely without it...

I can see it now: cries for a separate E93 forum in the near future reminiscent of all the E92 cries

Thank you Brett.

In fact, if you go to the bmwusa.com website under future vehicles, where the E93 is featured, you can see the option list under which comfort access is noted as a requirement for opening the roof remotely.

By the way, the website has recently been updated with new video/animation/pics. Haven't gone through it all yet.

Don't understand why CA is an option on a $50K car. My MINI Cooper S Cabrio came standard with a remotely opening top, sunroof, and windows.

I don't think so... as I gather it works the same way as any E9x when you hold down the unlock button to put the windows down. The Z4 does this too as I gather.

I hope you're right, but if you also access the new E93 website, you'll notice that it's explicit in saying that comfort access is required to drop the top remotely.

that would really suck if that was the case... a downgrade would suck (cos every other convertible i know does it remotely...

My Z's regular key can put the top down, so don't fret.

I just wish that with or without comfort access, when we would hold the button down, it would let you put them back up with the same key stroke

Linus is correct. CA is needed for remotely controlling roof. Also gives you comfort loading where roof will come out of the trunk and hover to allow access to the trunk when top was down.
