BMW 335i and the SC Performance Center

Has anyone gone to the Performance center for the performance driving experience? Is it worth the money? Do you have to use your own BMW or do they provide one?

I really would like to use my 335i, but then again, maybe I should spare it.

335i: Now with 6100 miles... and feeling a bit slower...

I hear it's cool. I'm pretty sure you don't use your own car, but I dunno that for sure. I assume it's kinda like the PCD thing class... just longer.

Haven't gone yet; though I'm thinking of signing up for one of the classes this spring/summer.

I'm assuming they have a fleet of cars to use (it could be complicated insurance wise using your own vehicle on a race track).

From what I read online at bmwusa.com, you use their cars, not yours. We're considering taking a holiday trip down there later this year for the course.

My employer is headquartered 10 minutes away in Greenville, and a couple of months ago I got to do a half-day corporate event where we got to drive virtually EVERYTHING on the grounds - X5, Z4, M3, M5, M6, 330i, 550i, 760il.. am I forgetting anything? INCREDIBLE experience, dampened only by driving rain (which was fun in a lot of ways, particularly on the offroad course with the X5) and the fact that our group was so large that a ton of people were on the track at all times, which slowed things down quickly. But what an awesome overall experience, I can't wait to get a chance to do it again.. highly recommended.

I was thinking about going down there in the spring myself. Any ideas on prices, how to sign up?

Thx!

You drive their cars. As of fairly recently, those picking up their 335i's via PCD were provided 330i's for the one-day course because they did not have any 335i's in their fleet yet. I don't know if that has changed or not.

archtop - did they have any when you picked up your car?

Yeah, I was wondering that too. I should be down there late next month... wonder if they'll have 335's by then?

I'll be picking up mine sometime in April. My dealer told me that they already have the 335 coupes with sports and premium package.

I did the two-day M5 Driving Experience after I got my M5. (Getting the car was the pre-req.) We drove their M5s. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had behind the wheel. First-rate treatment all around, not to be missed by any Bimmerphile.

if my car is scheduled out of production for jan 19th, any guesses as to when i might be able to schedule my Performance delivery?

im asking bc i think i read somewhere that they allow a couple extra weeks to be sure your car is in.

It's about 7 weeks, but your dealer can check with them and they'll come back with the earliest date.

Driving School

I am scheduled for the Feb 3 & 4, 2007, 2 day course. the final paperwork I just received from them stated that I would be driving the 330i. It indicated that they will be switching over to the 335 in spring. I'm not sure when that means.

Note: If you fill out the form online and it tells you that the date you want is full, call on the phone as smoetimes the web gives out false info. They are aware of the problem and addressing it.

When I did it, that happened to me and I picked up the phone and called just by chance, and they had several openings for my date, and I got in.

Looking forward to it.

Dean
