This is just a simple screw on right? Turn the stock shifter counter clockwise to loosen it up, and put the new one clockwise to tighten it up?

rlc-thanks for the links. Just a question...you said that the boot came off seperately, but in one of your pictures, you took the boot off. Were you just curious to see under the boot? lol.

Wow, pulling it off seems too easy :x How hard did you have to pull before it budged? On my current car, when I changed the shifter out, I had to do the "right tighty lefty loosey" rule and it took a lot of effort to break the initial seal.

the short shift knob pictured above comes with teh boot attached, so you have to replace the whole boot + knob assembly. The sunglass DIY and ither knob DIY's demonstrate how to do this. It is very easy.
Put the gearshift in 2nd, and then just pull... the knob comes off very easily.

here is a link with the part number:

As Chesmu says, the new shift knob comes with a new leather boot attached. When you pull off the old knob the leather is not attached to the knob and slides off over the bare shifter after you unseat the base of the boot from the console. This is an easy and quick job to replace the knob.

Also, if you have Aluminum Trim you might like a new E-Brake handle also - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hlight=e-brake

What do they charge for shipping? I just ordered this and the e-brake handle but shipping was TBD. Thanks for the recommendation. Crown has awesome prices.:rocks:

hmmmm......it seems that after reading several posts there are two choices for this short-shift knob. The M and the non-M. I already ordered the non-M, but apparently the M is weighted, and shorter - but not as good looking as the stock "look". When I get it I shall see and report back with a new post - and if I decide to change to the M shifter, I'll most definitely be selling the short shifter. FYI

Anyone know if the parking break handle comes with the boot, like the shift knob?
