Tracking the 335i...
Who has tracked their 335i yet? Over at Audiworld, people keep talking how it overheats, and shuts down. I was wondering straight from 335i owners that have tracked their cars if this was an issue.

I am planning on doing it when I get it in March. I can let you know then. I have heard that too from other non-Audiworld folks. One guy I talked to knows a lot about BMW engines in general and he thinks that once the car passed 10K mark it will no longer be a problem since there will be way less internal friction with parts. Also I think that if you plan on tracking the car you may consider higher grade oil, which in itself can run the engine cooler.

looks like the manual says 5-40 or 5-30...
I consistently ran Mobile 1 0-40 in my S4 bi-turbo. I plan on doing the same here. definately saw a drop in temp compared to 5-30, but it got up to around 270 degrees on track days. I think Xede people should be a bit concerned if they plan on tracking their 335i. more boost == more heat, which could == limp mode. |
