Spare Tire Kit

Has anyone tried the spare tire kit sold by Bavarian Autosport? This is the only firm that ships this set to Canada from the US. Thanks for your comments.

Have you considered this? I imagine the spare tire kit is heavy and would take most of your trunk space.

Yes, I got their kit and it works fine. It comes with an OEM tool and jack kit. The jack and tools fit under the trunk liner. If you invert the tire you can store stuff in the wheel dish. I just have a couple bungee cords holding it in the back of the trunk.

Thanks. I do have the Conti kit in the trunk now. I was thinking that the spare would provide a bit of extra security on long trips where a tire shop may be a long way. I have heard that the spare is only 4" or so thick. I would put the spare in a tire carrier. Then if I need some extra space in the trunk for luggage, I could toss the spare in one of the backseat footwells.

I have the kit and it's great. I fit my personal tool kit in the wheel dish and still have plenty of room for luggage, as the spare's only 5" deep.

Looking at the photo, I find it ridiculous that BMW did not enlarge the well under the trunk floor a bit. A mini-spare could have fit in a slightly enlarged space. It would have given owners an option.
