Structural rigidity of e93
My question is about the strength of the roof on the e93.
When you drive on bumpy roads with the window down and your hand on the joint between the roof and the a pillar, you can feel a wiggle which wouldn't be there in the case of a sedan or couple. How can this be improved, if at all? How much of the weight of the roof weight is in the arms and are they steel, iron, alum; how much of the weight is in the top panel, rear panel, back window? I figure that the A pillars of the e93 are stiffer than those of the coupe or sedan for a few reasons, but in the event of a roll-over with the top up, do the C pillars hold up well? I know the Rear seats have integrated roll bars which probably do not fire with the roof up(?). How does the joint between the front and rear panel hold up? I have no idea but I can only imagine their must be some safety standard in the event of the roll. But then I think of the ford explorer or whatever that had a paper like roof that collapsed on a few people.

This is common with most "wagons".
Try rear strut braces at the c-pilar. Look for something like this:

The roof on the E93 is not designed to support the car. Rollover bars behind the rear headrests will pop up in the event of a rollover to support the car.

I apologize! I thought you guys were talking about wagons, but apparently, you are talking about convertables.
