E92 auto owners. Is this true?

Manual mode shifting, downshift forward, upshift back as it should be, can be carried out via the lever or using steering wheel mounted paddles ($100 option.) Is it true the trans will shift early in manual mode?

E90 step upshifts at redline in manual mode.
I know this bothers some people and I've had other autos that let you bounce off the limiter (either on purpose or inadvertantly), but my only question is why would anyone want to do that?

Why would you not want to shift before redline? I thought beyond the redline is not a good place for the engine to be?

It'll kiss the redline and then upshift, yes.
