Seatbealt Assistant SIB
I know a few had some issues. The SIB has pics. I can PDF later if anybody needs it.
SI B72 28 06 Safety Restraint Systems December 2006 Technical Service SUBJECT Seatbelt Assistant "hand" Portion Breaks Off MODEL E92 (3 Series Coupe) produced up to August 9, 2006 SITUATION The customer may complain that the end of the seatbelt assistant breaks or falls off when retracting. CAUSE This is caused by the retaining tab on the "hand" portion not being robust enough and breaking off during operation. CORRECTION The retaining tab on the "hand" portion of the seatbelt assistant has been redesigned to be more robust. On a customer complaint basis, replace the seatbelt assistant hand. PROCEDURE With the seatbelt assistant in the extended position, grasp the arm portion (1) with one hand, and pull the hand portion (2) with your other hand in the direction of the arrow. After the hand is pulled out approximately 2 inches, an audible click can be heard as the spring tension releases, leaving the hand in the extended position. Insert a small flathead screwdriver between the hand portion and the arm portion of the assistant as shown. Pressing down slightly with the screwdriver while gently pulling on the hand portion will release the retaining tab on the hand. 5. Installation: Line up the new hand portion with the seatbelt assistant arm and press it in until the retaining tab locks the hand into place. Great news. I've contacted the dealer already to get them replaced. It is the only thing driving me nuts in the car...
