Weird things happening, Help!
Hey guys I need some help, I finally got my car home safely. I had posted something earlier about my oil temp gauge shutting down and going to 0 while I was driving, so that was problem number one. A few days later a light bulb type of signal comes on while driving, and I still don't know what that was about.
So today I am driving and all of a sudden my car loses power, I am basically flooring the car with my foot on the gas all the way but the car just won't go higher than the current speed. I was driving about 70 on the freeway when it happened and I just felt the car lose power and as much as I floored it, it wouldn't go past 3K RPM, I turned the car off and on and it seemed fine again but a few minutes later it started happening again and the car just wouldn't go. I downshifted and still nothing and the car was vibrating pretty hard. And finally at the end a light came on that has 2 propellers and it is the shape of a rectangle sort of with half the rectangle shaded in. Anyone know what is happening here? |

lol....
your engine is in gimp mode, it wont rev past 3k prms to stop it from hurting itself, downshifting just pissed it off anytime something with oil goes screwy (even though the gauge might just be messed up) i would take it in right away, oil is the lifeblood of your car... and propellars, i have no idea but im guessing it stands for the radiator or intercooloer or something tempature oriented? take it to the dealer.. |

Sorry to hear about your problem. I was real relieved to read you don't have a 335i though. All these stories make my heart sink until I find out if it is a 335i or not.

i had the problem in my audi before.... there is a difference in limp mode and it cutting power at 3k.
limp mode is usualy your car just not puting out as much power as it should...like boost, timing etc... it will feel slugish. ususaly when it cuts power at 3k and even if your florring it it wont have power.... that happen to me due to timing issues and the car didnt like it once it started to boost...at about 3k it would cut the throttle completely. i would take it in asap. |

Thanks for the replies guys, well I took it into the dealer 3 days ago and they called me today and told me that there was something wrong with the PUMP? So they ordered a new high pressure pump for the car and that it is on backorder and it is going to be a long weekend also so I won't have the car until at least Tuesday now which will make it about a week it has been there. Should I complain? Is this PUMP thing a simple issue?

Oil pump, fuel pump, coolant pump, washer fluid pump....Pump is not enough info. On the bright side, they know what the problem is and they are fixing it, relax.

i hope the original pump doesnt have an engineering defect, but at the same time i hope it does and has been re engineered and new better pumps are going into the new cars being built
