E92 Front Tow Hitch Cover

This guy is pissed off!!!!
2007 E92 335i Space Gray...
So I went to the mall this morning to do some christmas shopping....after parking the car I do a walk around (as I always do...I hate leaving my car in parking lots)
Not a scratch on her....and she looks as beautiful as ever....

When I get out of the mall...I do my usual walk around and I notice that my front tow hitch cover is missing.

WTF....who the hell would steal this???who the hell would even need this?? There aren't many 335's on the road yet...and I have only seen one in space gray...
This world is filled with a nubch of assholes....I am f'ing furious...merry f'ing xmas...

I know it is not an expensive part I already ordered it in fact I ordered 3 of em just in case..and my body shop is only charging $30 to paint it...it is more the principal of the matter...

Anyway just venting...if anyone is curious..the part is only $12.00

Did you performed the walk around the car when you get out of the car at the mall? If you only performed the walk around after you finish shoping at the mall, then it is posible that the thingy fell off during your more than enthusiastic drive to the mall. But considering you got 3 replacement for a fairly cheap price, I would not worry about it. Does it comes with a teather cord to secure it to the bumper?

well if this happens to anyone else (and I sincerly hope it does not) I will have 2 spare ones painted and ready to install in space gray...

The thing that really pisses me off is I am going to be visiting fmaily this weekend for xmas many of whom have never seen my car..(I am a pretty young guy and the only person in my family with a bmw) so basically I will be showing my car off to my family this weekend...and I will be showing off a car with a friggin whole in the bumper...

Oh well....the whole will be forgotten after I step on the gas with the torque throwing my uncle into the backseat

on my e90, the cover comes with an attached teather cord. Not sure about 335i but I think it should have it too. Another thing you can do is snap the rear one out and check to see if the teaher cord is there if if it is there make sure it is inserted into a little hole to make it difficult for anyone to steal one. I had today exactly the same issue with my back bumper cover, only it was not stolen, but fell off somewhere on the way my car is 3 days old so obviously I have to guess this has to do with production flaws...

I've had this issue, fell off about 2 weeks ago. I'm going to see if I can jury rig some kind of retaining strap.

Lol I am SOOOO glad I am not alone in the walk around thing.

I try to find the most out of the way spot to park...if there is a car I park at least 8 spots way from it .lol. If not the END of the stalls.

Sucks people just can't leave your stuff alone when you have it parked on the street.
So much for respecting others stuff.

Bastiges!

Those things don't secure well and fall off easy. More than likely it just fell off vice someone ripping it off. Time to get some parachute cord and super glue the cord to the hitch cover from the inside.

Mine was replaced for free, and the thether is a a joke. I put a dab of rubber cement on each contact point which will allow me to pull it off if I need to, but still provode a bit more security. It takes a while for them to get the part and have the bodyshop paint it to spec. I'm surprised, especially siince several e9x's on the lot were missing the part, that they don't just stock them pre-painted.

They told me I will have to wait for 2 weeks to get it shipped from Germany. At least they said they will replace it for free. Too bad they dont stock them pre-painted...

I noticed my front tow hitch cover was missing today too. Sapphire Black. $10.50 to buy the part, then two weeks and something like $45 to have it painted by my dealer.

I assumed it was stolen from the parking lot at my office (maybe its a new jersey thing), but maybe it just fell off.

Either way, the hole it leaves in the front bumper is just ugly...
