Problem with my exhaust 335i Please help

I was backing out my car today from my drive way. I got out because I forgot something in my other car and I noticed that exhaust was coming out from only 1 of my pipes. I started to panic , and waited deciding whether to call the bmw service center or not. Then all the sudden exhaust comes out from both pipes.

Is this normal??

or should I get it checked out???/

PLEASE HELP

Now I don't OWN a 335 per say but the past discussions have been that the 335 has emissions out of one pipe at start up and then opens up the other side later to help warm up faster or something to that extent

totally normal, it also does this at cruise and idle speeds to lower the amount of exhaust noise... do a search for "golf tee mod" (a way to disable this, and get a diffferent sounding exhaust)

My g/f noticed that on my car the 2nd day we had it. If you shine a flashlight into your left muffler, you'll see a small flap inside, and if you look, a solenoid I guess you call it, which controls the opening and closing....
