Canadian dealer price on replacement RFT (225/255/19s) $2776 + tax - NUTS !!

I just asked the dealer to price out the replacement 19" RFT rubber ... thank God I was sitting down....

The dealer: The stock Bridgestone RE050A tires for your car are currently in stock and ready to go.

Fronts - $575.94 each
Rears - $702.66 each
Ontario Tire Stewardship Fee (OTSF) - $23.36
Labour – 196.00 (mount, balance, installed on car)

I also asked for non runflat - Bridgestone Pole Position tires 1 size up.
As for the non run flat Pole Position version in the larger sizes, here are the prices. (unfortunately they do not compare to Tire Rack)

Fronts - $425.57 each
Rears - $459.89 each
OTSF - $23.36
Labour – $168.00

2776 + HST = $3,137 for the STOCK tires installed
1964 + HST = $2,220 for the pole position non RFTs from the dealer

I can get the upgraded Michelins PS2s (235/265) from Sams club in the US (Buffalo) for 1540 + tax 1740 (13% - and I don't think it is 13%....I think it is 7% state tax). I think that is installed....

I can get the PS2s (235/265) from Tirerack for: $1,789.52 (shipped to Can, with tax and duty in)

I can get the stock RFTs from Tirerack for $1,906.66 (shipped to Can, with tax and duty in)

Questions:
1) WTF is the dealer smokin? Do they have a computer that is connected to the internet? Are there that many people that just go in and put a credit card down?
2) I would love to hear from anyone that has gone from stock RFTs to 1 size up PS2s, or any other non RFT 1 size up tire to hear about understeer, ride, handling..... I hear the turn in maybe sacrificed without the stiff side wall on the RFT...

comments/feedback is apprecated.

Thanks

That's less than what I was quoted on one new RFT 19" rear. Here in Aust, with our dollar being 10% less than the CAD, I was quoted $AUD 880 for one.
At least in Canada or the US, there is plenty of competition to drive the prices down.

Yeah they are ridiculous on 19 RFT pricing, to add insult to injury I am selling these same tires for 1000 on here and I still get lowballed like hell.

I think i'm going to keep these tires till they're bald and then just swap them for non-rfts.
