Sonora and Barrique Red are being retired...
The latest BMW order guide shows that both Sonora and Barrique Red will be retired as of March production. Barrique red will be replaced with Barbera Red and Sonora will be replaced with Platinum Bronze metallic. In addition, Atlantic Blue will be added to the coupe color palette.

I don't think these colors will be missed much by most people, although I do think Barrique is kinda cool, Sonora- yuck.

I saw a Sonora E90 yesterday. It looked okay, but it depends on the light.

sorta like the episode of Seinfield when Jerry was dating a girl that looks okay under certain light, while horrid in other lighting conditions

Quite to sad to see barrique red go, I stil maintain its an underappreciated color. I expect RLC to chime in on this soon...
Sonora is more hit and miss but its not as awful as folks make it out to be. I agree that the platinum bronze should appease the gold/beige camp better though.

That's too bad, I would have bought Atlantic blue. I was looking for a color like that when I was ordering. Arctic wasn't blue enough, and the other two blues were too dark and saturated.

So that means my Barrique is more valuable now
I love my color... it's Barrique, Burgandy, Purple all at the same time depending on who you ask I tell BMW service people Barrique when they ask me my color and all I get back is a blank look and "oh I'll just put red" I'm sure RLC can relate to the misunderstandings of Barrique... It's too spicy for most! |

Ever see Sonora in person? It is def gold in the sun but like other BMW colors has different hues based upon lighting. I have gotten numerous acolades on ours. "Its good to see a BMW thats not silver, black or white". It turns geads and will be rare.....

I'm neither disappointed or surprised Barrique is going away - not that many sales. If I'd had the option and seen both colors in person when I ordered I would have picked Barbera Red, but I still love the look of my car. I saw a Barbera 7 in the showroom when I was ordering and told the guy I wanted either Barbera or the closest thing to it. Barbera Red will be beautiful on the E90/93. I'm with Bzs on this one. My car is/will be a rarity now - for better or worse. I'm driving a one model year production (2006 330i) car in an unusual limited run color (Barrique) and that is fine with me. Another thing I like about Barrique Red is that it is exclusive to the 3 (so far). Atlantic, Barbera, and practically every other E9x color are all colors you can see on other models. As a blue BMW lover I'm still puzzled why BMW can't give us a blue somewhere in the spectrum between Montego and Monaco (like I have on my E36) - maybe on the new M3. Atlantic kind of bores me, Monaco is almost black, and Montego looks great on the coupe but not quite right on the sedan. Sonora? Never been a fan of tan, gold, bronze cars - no matter the make. Still, the colors are secondary to a fantastic car that's a blast to drive. It's all good! Merry Christmas To All! PS - Hey Ryan, Do you think this will up the price on those photos you shot?

Here's a shot of the 6 in Barbera Red vs. my Barrique 330i. Also a poor shot of the Atlantic Blue 6.

Thanks for those pics, rlc. Barbera Red reminds me of those 80's Trans Am red.
