Avg cost to get tires mounted and balanced?

Hey Guys,

Got some question for you guys. I was able to get great deals on wheels from a forum member. Now I need to get some tires. I see great prices for tires all over the internet.

The only unknown is the average cost to get the tires mounted and balanced on the wheels. I have seen placed charge $X dollars, then add more if they are "Rims".

After getting great prices on wheels and tires separately, the last thing I want to do is get ripped off on getting them installed.

I'm in SoCal, so we have a great number of tires places (small and large), but I don't want to run around "Shopping" for mounting services.

Can anyone give me a ball park figure of how much each tire and wheel should cost to be mounted and balanced.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

+1

If you have any trouble with the TireRack application, you can also try calling a few shops to get quotes. Keep in mind that often times the more expensive shops take better care in the work they are doing. Sometimes, though not always, the chain tire shops such as Just Tires, Big O Tires, etc will have younger inexperienced guys working which can lead to damaged wheels. Usually a few minor scratches from mounting and balancing are not a concern for most, but if this is of great importance, make sure you ask them to take extra care not to scratch the wheels.

Thanks for the tirerack link.

Found some close installers.. interesting to see that install price is based on the sidewall aspect ratios.. 35 series and lower are the highest priced.

It appears the range is between $20 to $35 per tire for mounting and balancing.

Looking at the detail info, they list the equipment they used. Any type of equipment better then others?

^ Sounds about right, and that's a regular shop without hook-ups.

I get a buddy of mine to do it, cost about a 5-layer burrito per corner.....

I just had my tires and TPMS sensors swapped over to new wheels at a local Discount Tire store. Total charge for everything was $125.00. Had to reset the TPMS, but no issues with anything and they were careful not to harm the finish on my new wheels.
