Direct or indirect TPMS? CPO 2007 335xi
I recently purchased a CPO 2007 335xi. The manufactured date is 05/2007 and it's original BMW warranty will expire 07/2011 - so I'm assuming it was sold on or around 07/2007. Long story short, I read on this forum that there are two types of TPMS - direct and indirect. All cars sold after 09/2007 in the US uses direct TPMS (wireless sensor in wheel) and all (or most) sold prior to 09/2007 uses indirect TPMS (rotational abs type - no sensor in wheel). Since my car seemed to be prior 09/2007, I thought I had the indirect TPMS and I wouldn't need to install a TPMS in a new set of wheels. I changed my wheels to 19" vorsteiners and the TPMS light is on now. I tried resetting it via the i-drive and it still comes back. Does that mean I have the direct TPMS? is there anyway to tell which type of TPMS I have? Thanks in advance.
