328i or 335i ?

Thinking of buying a BMW used coupe, but don't know if I should go for 328i or 335i ? Seems like 328i is a more reliable car compare to 335i. Plenty of HPFP and valve ticking noise problems for the 335i. Is it the same too for the 328i ??

If I had it to do all over again I'd get 335 6MT.....unless you plan on keeping the car beyond 120 K miles and paying for expensive repairs doesn't fit into your future or if performance isn't that important to you. I'm very happy with my 328 ...most of the time... but I've driven 335......very different machine, very nice. Welcome to the forum, good luck.

Mods - what do you think of immediately banning any future 328 vs 335 thread?

The 328i is a good little basic automobile. The 335i is a good little basic automobile but with FI for more punch. Same chassis. Both reliable except for the already known issues of the DFI and FI motors.

Pick your poison.

Neither a 328i or 335i, get a 329xi, a great compromise

Seriously though 335i is way more fun that 328i, and the HPFP issue is over dramatized by a few pissed off people

Here's my 2 cents; I have the 328i (sedan) and it's a really good daily driver for me and has been more than reliable (knock on wood ). No ticking noises for me and no worries at the 40K mile mark. Honestly though if I have the money for the 335i in the future I'd upgrade for sure. In the end it's faster and really as reliable as a $40,000+ car can get.
I don't think you can go wrong with either, but if you want more fun on the weekends, get the 335i.

By the way welcome to the forums.

Idk it seems like the apple is more of a reliable fruit when it comes to perishables, but the orange has a more faster sour taste.

Depends on whether you like powerful but unreliable fruit. Or smooth but weak fruit.

If you need automatic go for the 335i.
Go test them both.
