WHere can I get my car battery registered? (in orange county, hb)
I'm thinking about buying my battery on my own, installing it on my own, but I need a shop to register it. The dealerships are charging an hour of service which is ~$160!!! just to do it. I think the only thing you really need to do is plug it into an OBD device and do some quick software adjustments right?
Anyone know a shop? I"m around orange county, huntington beach btw. |

Have you tried EAS in Santa Ana? They do some programming.

Told you EAS is the place! I'll be in on Tuesday for the DRL deactivation Tom. Is there any word on the fix for my panic button still not working?

So i stopped by Walmart tonight to buy a battery tester and saw they sold batteries too, well I came online and it seems a lot of people are using Walmart's Everstart MAXX batteries (94R). it's only $75 too. will this have any problem with registering it?

I doubt WalMart is offering AGM-type batteries, which is what is present in your BMW now.

Have you tried the trickle charger BMW offers for $60...that will keep your battery alive and maybe revive it...

i dont think my battery is AGM though, its the white one with the "magic eye". i read that the black batteries is the AGM type?
i brought my battery to sears and they did a battery load test, says everything checked out. the only reason to replacde the battetry is for its age (running 5 years now). so i think ill wait until it dies on me again then replace it with an OEM at EAS. im trying to spread the cost, since im buying some parts to fix my door actuator. |

Even more so on the lightweight batteries. Registration is not a step that should be skipped or prolonged.

What happens if you don't register the battery when its replaced?
Won't the Battery and Temp statistics just slowly evolve to match the new battery? |

If this was true, there would be no need for battery registration.

Yes, and it should have been obvious that I read that post, However that still doesn't answer what would happen if you don't register it. Is it going to explode? Is it going to not charge? Is it going to reduce the lifetime of the battery (and if so by how much)?
