Was about to get a Camaro 2SS but now. 335?
Hi everyone. I came extremely close to buying a new Camaro 2SS/RS the other day but decided not to.
I drive a 525i right now and the Camaro handling would really suck compared to BMW I assume. And its a way bigger car. So now Im going to get a 07/08 335i coupe. One question though, is there a significant difference between the 2007 335i and the 2008? And another question, I really really want the M sport package on the 335, and I dont know where to look to find a car that has one. Ive looked at alot of dealers and their inventories and I dont see anything that says M sport package. Or would it be easier just to get the 335 and buy the package later and put it on myself or let experienced people do it. And does it ONLY come in white? Thats weird I like black :/ |

Well from what I know.. The m-sport package came out for the 2009 335's and beyond. I don't know the differences between the 07 and the 08 but im sure if you search you will find the answer. I would rather buy the car with the m-sport package than install an aftermarket one. I don't like the Camaro's at all and I think they look like a car from the movie cars....But from reading all the reviews and videos it seems like a really good sports car.
I dont like used cars but if you didnt care about the look than go for a new camaro. If you car about looks and brand name recognition, get them 335

2007s has better mirrors, my 2007 coupe does have oil cooler, 2008s have updated version of iDrive (dont know if there are any visual changes, but in 2008 i think for $200 year you can get service that lets you upload driving directions directly from Google Maps)
I am sure 08s have minor bug fixes, but all major bugs in 335s are still there..... |

I waited specifically for the new I-Drive. So I can tell you with complete certainty that the new I-Drive is in 2009+

very minor changes from 07 to 08...
i believe 08 had the BMW assist for free? (not really sure) -LED back license plate light -Power adapter removed in the glove box but basically, the car is pretty much exactly the same. In general, I would go for the 08 as it was not a first year production car. |

OP, interesting decision b/w a 2SS and 335i. My bro had a 928 S4 and went to a 2SS/RS and he loooves it. He enjoyed the Porsche but I think he missed the raw muscle of the pony cars.
sorry I still live in the land of the N52, but isn't there something with the older one maybe not having an oil cooler? if you're going to mod it, then I think you want the oil cooler

I was in a similar situation... I almost bought a Challenger SRT8. That is, however, until I drove the 335i! It is so much more refined and a controlled than a muscle car. I can't believe I almost bought a Dodge instead of a BMW.

Same here, I was split between the 2SS and the 335... Well needless to say my 6'4 frame was too big for the Camaro, even with the seat tilted all the way back and the seat all the way down... So I went with the 335... Wish I'd gotten the 535, but that's way OT... As for the OP, get an '08 or '09 if you can, should have the updated Idrive, and make sure it's got the sports pkg... But no matter what year you get, you'll be happy... (i hope)

Past March '07, all sport packaged 335i's got the oil cooler. No engine changes other than normal production incorporations of updated part numbers. Most '07s should have the newer turbo/wastegates and fuel injectors replaced through warranty. Check the service history and buying a CPO'd is preferable.
Although, later model years cars received production improvements in various engine components, BMW started de-contenting the cars to combat rising prices due to negative currency fluctuations.

EDIT: Wait, for some reason I read that as "center console storage compartment". Never mind. I never use the one in the glove box--I think I've taken that rechargeable flashlight out exactly one time, just to try it out.
