If it's an SES light. Your gas cap might not be on tight. Double check that first.

Hopefully, it's just that.

If that's the case, you'd think that auto makers would've made a "Check gas cap" light. That's driven me nuts all these years. Who decided that "SES" is a good light for the gas cap?

X2 on the gas cap, I've had that happen to me before. Make sure your'e turning it till you hear a click. It's not very loud and easily droned out by traffic so I occasionally get the light because of this

Gas cap is the FIRST thing that the dealership will tell you if you call them. They also say SES is emissions related, in one form or another.

Yeah, checked the gas cap already. Was tight, removed it, and put it back on until it clicked. Drove around and it's still on. Gonna take it off again, flip 180 degrees and put it back on. I burned through 1/4 tank in two days since I filled the tank before it lit.

I figured I would AT LEAST have it broken in before I had to schedule visits to the service department.

Update: Brought the car in on Tuesday morning, what they found was - "intake air temp sensor, cold start too high" - one time. Cleared the fault, test drove it, no other codes, then sent me on my way. <Crossing fingers>

I spend more time with my service adviser than I do with the wife and daughter. As a matter of fact, my piece of crap runs in constant limp mode right now. Joyful indeed. BMW should stand for Been Manufactured Wrong.

This f'in mentality at BMW drives me bonkers to no ends. Do we do this s*** at home? I mean, clear faults, if they don't come back, pretend nothing was wrong? Real life example 2 years ago--we come back from FLA to a heat wave, the central a/c stopped working and it was 99 degrees with a dew point of 73. Then it worked again for 20 min. Would I ignore the fact that it had stopped working and go on the fact that it was working again? Of course not, the fact that it stopped meant that there's a problem that needs to be fixed.

If your car were in a F1 race, you better believe bmw would not clear the faults and put the car back on the road. They'd find the root cause and fix it.

I love BMWs, just hate the people who sell and service them.

Yeah, I have a pretty bad taste in my mouth right now (NO PUN INTENDED )! But seriously, go look at the Lexus website and compare it to this one. The worst problem they have over there is a question about replacing a lightbulb. There are no problem threads. Then back over here is constant issues. The Ultimate Driving Machine is ultimately a piece of crap. But, man it's the most fun car I've had when running properly. I actually liked it better than the C6 Z06's I test drove 3 weeks ago (I know, I'm insane). I just don't know how long I can put up with the issues. I've already been shopping the IS-F. Fast and reliable.

The way you are treated pre-sales (this was my first BMW) and post-sales is night and day. After I took delivery my CA didn't know who I was and forgot about the $200 gift card I was supposed to get. Then in 2009 when the economy got bad she was calling to see if we could have dinner and talk about how she could earn more money off of me. So when I got the test drive the new 7 and get a $100 gift card offer, I made sure to waste an hour of her time on my day off showing me the 750li which I would never buy and probably will never be able to afford anyway.

What is BS though with Lexus is the $110 oil changes when it's dino juice.

In both of my Lexus cars, oils changes were right around $60. I heard the IS-F is in the $110 ballpark. Maintenance is not cheap at $500 services every $30k, but that is 2-3 years per pop. I have 73k on my GX470 and I've had to change the battery, one blinker, and have a rotor turned. Still on original tires. My IS250 had 36k when I sold it to get the 335i, with a flat tire as the only issue. I've had 2 BMW's for less than 2 years total and have been to the dealer for problems over 6 times.

Interesting, I guess price is dependent on the market. I had seen an internet coupon for $59.99 for a BMW oil change, with it going for $130 at my dealership. I asked for a discount on the 1200 mi. (my choice) oil change so they charged me $73 (arbitrary). A coworker pays $110 at his Lexus for an oil change (rather the co. pays it because he expenses it).

I'm sure you will be back over and over to the BMW dealership. Every once in a while you'll see a "my 335 is at 70k and has had zero issues to date." I always wonder what went right with their particular car? I'm going back for the 3rd time with the seatbelt handler. I know the routine, software fix, software fix again, push him out of warranty and then we'll fix the hardware for $1000.

Lol! yep, I've been for the gas door, LPFP (software and hardware), and I'm currently "limping" around town until Thursday for the HPFP. I've had the car for 9 months. I can't even get on the highway right now.

I went through the HPFP twice in less than 7K miles on my E93 335i. Not to mention the transmission dumping its fluid at 613 miles and stranding me on the side of the road.

Needless to say, I now have a '10 335d, get better mileage and the car has been flawless.

I can't recommend the 335d enough...I don't miss the 335i one bit.
