Heard a chirp when unlocking but I don't have alarm
The other day my girl and I were getting yogurt and when I went back to my car to unlock it we both heard a soft chirp!? I asked my girl if she thought it came from another car but she said it came from mine. Problem is, I don't have (or don't think I have) the OEM alarm.
Anybody else ever experience this? Is there a way I can check to see if I have the alarm? I know my car is pre-wired for it (based on the year). I remember another forum member selling an alarm he purchased because he found out he actually had one. |

Alarm isn't standard on the 3 series. The alarm kit for prewired vehicles includes a hood switch, motion sensor module, and a speaker siren for the chirp that goes in the driver side rear wheel well. Your car would still have to be reprogrammed by the dealer to recognize the alarm once installed.

Haha no I literally did mean are you sure that the chirp that you heard came from your car and not the car next to it maybe?
Was this a one time event or has it happened since? |

It's happened on mine before. It is very random but it does sound like a slight low end chirp. I haven't had any problems with locking mechanisims yet (thank God) but I'm hoping it is just temperature deviation that might be causing it.

My 07 e92 does that chirp noise every once in a while when I unlock or lock the driver door... but i can't figure out what or where that chirp noise is coming from, does anyone know what's causing it?
BTW i don't have the OEM alarm. |
