I had my 3rd HPFP in 16 months installed yesterday. I've taken this car in 5 times for issues. Last time my HPFP acted up in December, they only gave me a software upgrade. This weekend without warning, my car started up in limp mode. NJ has a 24 month or 18K mile lemon law and I'm at 11K so I am good for a while. I'm really tired of this. I warned them not to put in the older HPFP and to put the 943 version in. Has anyone had a problem with the new HPFP?

Should have NOT say anything about the 943 pump and let them put in whatever, and pray that they do put in an older pump so that the next time the pump fails you can actually lemon the car.
Otherwise, say they put in the 943 pump and it fails in a year and a half and outside the 18K miles range... |

Damn. I would prefer not to lemon it because I've modded my car so much. I got an M-tech bumper, spoiler and some other little things. I would have to shell out more money and maybe lose my 0.9% financing rate if I get a new car no? I thought they depreciate the value of your car and they charge you for things like tires, curb rash, dings, etc.

It's a shame hame to hear that HPFP's are still going out. As I do in many of these cases, though, I have to suggest you consider the 335d. I understand if you lemon your 335i you may be put off by the notion of buying another 335, but so far the D's reliability has been virtually spotless. You'll find the performance just as enjoyable as your 335i, only you won't have to worry about HPFP failures; as an added bonus, you'll also reap the benefits of 40% better fuel economy, and (with the BMW's continued eco credit) a $2,000 cheaper price.
In any case, best of luck with the new pump, and hopefully it won't come to lemoning it. |
