When is Front Plate Holder Installed?

Hi All,

Does anybody know at what point during the build/prep process the front plate holder is installed? I'm guessing it is either at the prep center or at the dealer itself.

Thanks.

Dealer... And a good one will ask you if you want it before drilling holes in your bumper.

Yup. Dealer. I saw the note they made on the screen when I got my car yesterday. Bracket was in the trunk but I'm buying a different mount that does not use the self tapping screws. Bumper holes = bust.

What I do is tell my CA, at the time of ordering, that I do not want a plate holder. No holes, please. He or she puts a note in the file. Then, right before the dealer takes possession, I remind the CA one more time.

That's what I did when I oerdered my 535i through small dealer.
the bigger dealer I dealt recently just don't install front license holders on all new cars arriving on the lot and ask at the time of delivery; "how lucky do you fell punk?" ala Eastwood

My current 335 came from out of state & has no drill holes, which is great. I order a car several yrs ago & asked for it not to be drilled so I could do a no-drill frame, when they called it was in I reminded them, by the time I got there it came out drilled, argh. I think dealers are more aware these days that some people don't want it drilled so it's not as unusual of a request.
