OIL SYMBOL???

I'm getting this oil icon (symbol) after shutting the engine off, but only on occasion. It's just the symbol with nothing else showing on any displays. Anyone know what this means? Am I due for an oil change? I've had the low oil symbol before, but it was different.

doesn't hurt to check the oil level. This used to happen on my E46; it will stay momentarily then shut off. It was low oil level.

That's odd as my nav screen tells me when it's low, but it's not showing anything on the nav screen.

same thing is happening to me after I shut her off, sometimes. I need to take it to the dealer soon (brake service light is on) so I will update you guys about this issue if nothing comes up before then. I am guessing it's low oil level, but I don't really know

I checked the oil and had to add 2 quarts!! That's 3 quarts I've added inside a month and the car has 25k on it!!! Makes me say...What's the deal??!!
