Front license plate screwed into bumper?

I got my new BMW but it came with a front license plate on it; I want to take it off but is the license plate screwed into the front bumper? IE if I pull the license plate and the plastic piece it screws into is there going to be two screw holes in my front bumper?

just letting you know, Texas is a two license plate state, so you're going to get a ticket if you take off your front license plate...

There hideous, its worth it. NY is a 2 plate state and i have only ever gotten 1 ticket for it, in three years, 110$. If you really don't like the ticket idea get a kit that mounts to the grill or the tow hook, and they will be cheaper than a single ticket so depending on how tough your cops are it may be worth it.

About the holes, yes there will be holes you can use the plugs, but a good body shop is the way to go also shouldn't be more than 150$ to get that fixed up, at least thats what i paid.

California is a two-plate state. Haven't had a plate in 10 years. No tickets. I am sure that I eventually will get a ticket, but when you amortize the ticket cost over the amount of years that I did not run plate, I am sure it's a small price to pay.

lol how do you think it is held on...glue? Every license plate, on any make or model, is held on by screws.

I've had 5 cars and I never have had a front license plate... I got pulled over 4 times in my last car (vette) for no front plate, but they almost will never give someone a ticket for it (unless they are having a really bad day) - I have had several officers tell me this, including a police chief. Usually, they use the front plate as an excuse to pull you over just to make sure you have a valid license, inspection, registration, etc. etc.

So, I usually take the risk! lol.

Personally I could not care less for this particular law because front license plates are simply awful. As a matter of automotive design principle I can not attach such a hideous piece of aluminum to my vehicle's front fascia!

Thanks and gig 'em!

i totally agree. they dont really serve a purpose, just an excuse for cops to pull you over for not having one...

Front plates are usually used for traffic cameras...cops also use them for a target for radaring. Both of which I hate...pigs.

Btw, OP don't get that side mount. What are you trying to be, an Evo? If you mount a plat do it right and mount it on the center. Make a bracket that attaches under the bumper but holds the plate in front. Also aim it slightly down so cops can't use it to radar you.

its a license plate, who care where it goes? as long as you have one in the front you're good, i think it looks fine and you can remove it fairly easily for car shows, track, or any other event if you want

I think this one is way better...Maybe not if you are going to take it on and off every single time you park and drive. In LA they usually don't nab you for driving without one, however the parking meter fairies nail you for it every single time they get a chance. I'm definitely going to get the one in the link and maybe even paint it black so it's less visible against my black car when I choose to take the plate off.

I did ED on my car. We do not have a front plate requirement. I have seen one other car running around in MI with the temp plate on the front. It is not put on with screws - and the adhesive better come off when they redeliver my car.
