Problems after ~943 HPFP & Software update
Does anyone of you have an issue(s) after the new software update and the new ~ 943 HPFP for 2008 335i? I have three problems existed after the replacement and update two months ago and just wondering if you guys found any solution to it or could give me some advice.
1. In starting the car in cold morning or after 5 hours of resting, my car seat would shake, rattle or vibrate until the oil temp. reach at least 200 F. The steeling wheel and automatic shift knob does not vibrate only the front seats will. The vibration or rattling (what ever you call it) in not very pronounce but my wife and I can feel it. It felt like your butt is seating on the Ultrasonic fruit washer or seating on the handle of an ultrasonic toothbrush. 2. The SOS botton or BMW assist does not work anymore. I tried to connect to BMW assist via Idrive but an message will alway pop up stating "no connection" in my house or anywhere in houston (downtown, airport, major businese locations and etc.) 3. Shifting issues: a) at second gear, if you accelarate from 1200 rpm to 3100 rpm I can feel three slight jerk or bump haft a sec. apart around 2000 ~ 3000 rpm before reaching 3100 rpm. b) Felt it the boost comes after 2500 rpm on third and forth gear. It felt that after input on the gas paddle it take about 1 sec. before engine react. I don't know if this is trubo lag but it only happing on third and forth gear. c) car drive different after the replement and update. I know the second problem can easily fix by the dealer by software update, but I want to bring it to the dealer when BMW have a newer software updates that cure the other two problems the same time. It very hard to convince the dealership of the # 1 & 3 problems due to that they will just give me "It Normal" solution. But if I wait for another month or so with newer software update released I can complain the problem # 2 and get the software update that might also cure the problems # 1 & 3. What do you guys think? Or do you have any solutions? Thanks |

I just picked up my car today from momentum after a HPFP replacement and a software update. I'll let you know if I notice anything different as I know I don't have any of those issues prior to the update.
How is your HPFP holding up? |

In term of the new HPFP, its running good. Had driven at least 5000 miles on it, so far only the problems I have are the problems I state on the orginal post. Let me know what your outcome from Momentum? BTW, did you go to the Mementum in 59 or the I-10 Katy one?

John, I don't know where you located, but in Houston, the Hwy. doesn't have emergency call box installed. Therefore if the car stalled in the Hwy. it upto the bystander (in the car) to help you out or call tow truck for you. In California, where I used to live, the Hwy have call box installed every 3 to 5 miles. My 335i got the famous half engine light one day in I-10 Hwy, lucky I just press the BMW assist and within 20 min. a tow truck appear. That day too, I left my Mobile phone in the house. I just don't what to picture myself again in a event that the car stall and I have no communication for getting help.

re SOS button not working, there is about a 50-60% chance of this happening when the car is reprogrammed. When it happened to me, I called BMW roadside assistance on my cell phone and they were able to get it going again. Try that first, if they can't restart it, take it back to the dealer. It's a known programming problem.

I have number three, but worse, as soon as I hit 2k, it starts to drop dead on its face until I hit 3100, and that's in any gear but first, I also have a loud fan going the entire time my car is running. I also have a strong smell of gas since the replacement, and the dealer said they pulled my injectors to see if they were going bad before my hfpf was replaced. Any ideas?
