Trunk not alarmed?

2011 E92 w/ OEM alarm & comfort access. Just noticed that when I open the trunk, the clown nose continues to blink, and when I close the trunk, there is no audible confirmation that the alarm has reset. This leads me to believe that there is no trigger switch for the trunk lid. I personally think that it is dumb that there is no trigger switch for the trunk, but I guess BMW's thinking is that to open the trunk a thief would have to pop it from inside the cabin, of which the doors have triggers. Dunno if the hood has a trigger (haven't checked yet), but would assume the same logic. Go figure. My Audi has triggers for both the trunk and the hood.

The hood has a sensor but the trunk does not. There is no shock sensor either.

The trunk only has a lock alarm, let's say you locked your car and open the trunk using the "valet key" without turn off the alarm system. That will set off the alarm.

If you lock the car and press the remote to open, or just open by CA. The WILL NOT set off the alarm.

Or, let's say you opened the trunk before you lock the car. Doors will be locked, but no confirmation light or sound. Until you shut close the trunk.

Hope this helps.

OK, I stand corrected. I confirmed this:

Locked the doors with the trunk open. Clown nose blinks, no audible confirmation. Close trunk, alarm chirps.

Locked the doors with the hood open. Clown nose blinks, no audible confirmation. Close hood, alarm chirps.

So I guess they both are wired in as trigger points, but operate different than what I'm used to.

I knew about no shock sensor, as most, if not all OEM security systems do not include shock sensors. I plan on adding a DEI shock sensor in the future.

Thanks for the input.

The alarm does have a tilt sensor too. Learned the hard way when I jacked up my car to clean the wheels.

IIRC, on my '04 with factory alarm the clown nose would fast-blink if the system was partially armed - ie, you press the lock button on the remote but something isn't completely closed (door, hood, trunk).

Anybody care to confirm?
