What? The BMW USA site has a "end of lease" contract page, that's supposed to spell out the total cost, with breakdown of all the components. Is this where you got the info?

Or are you talking directly to a BMW dealer? If that's the case, then this is between you and them....and they're simply trying to jack up the price on you. It's not technically a lease buyout in this case: you're buying a used car from the dealer.

Makes sense, you are a loyal customer therefore they must charge you more. The more loyal you are the higher the fee. Unbelievable.

I see that your question was answered over at Bfest. Solid explanation, too.

Thanks for the heads up, Marcus.

It still boils down to a "I'm going to make you pay more since you're buying out the car" fee. The only difference is just who's pocketing your money.

"Customer Loyalty" my ass.

I'm totally with you on this. It's just a bad description of what this really is.

Fact is, BMWFS got caught in the middle of a terrible economy. The residuals are completely out of whack with the market (plus, let's not forget that BMWFS and its subvented leases didn't help things any), so BMWFS is making some of it up through the dealers. The dealers, meanwhile, are passing the cost right along to the end user (buyer).

Dealer thinking: We're giving the buyer a deal by reducing the lease-end buyout price. To show you how fair we are (and to show you how generous we are), we're going to tax that ass a little bit.

Customer loyalty? Ha!
