New here and to updated bimmers, 335i shifting question

About a month ago my dad and I were testing a 335i with about ~27k on it. I took it out for a ride and got on the highway and put it into steptronic mode. I stomped on the gas in 2nd(?) then hit the paddle to go into 3rd and it took a second after I hit the paddle while the revs went up. Was it rev matching or something?

I probably shifted at 6k, maybe a little past that, and it seemed to jump up right to before the redline. When I hit the shifter the gas peddle was still pushed in all the way. I didnt touch any settings except the seats.

This is our second bmw, our last was an 03 525i, so we're new to the updated line. I didnt get a chance to drive the one he just bought, but its coming on tuesday! It's going to be a shared car between him and I as we both have other toys.

Are you talking about the lag between the shift request and actual shift?

Nah. It reacts right when I shifted, just in a weird way. It revved up right after I hit the paddle for some reason before it actually went into the next gear. When I downshifted it didn't happen.

If you paddle shift in D mode it will change gears for you in certain conditions.

It rev matches on the downshifts in DS, not on the upshift. It doesn't upshift instantaneously though.

It was pushed into the steptronic mode. Well maybe it was supposed to do what it did. more than likely it was driver error. Like i said the last bmw we owned was an 03.
