So you have a e90 325i manual what would non-turbo mods would you do/improvement amount/ costs.

ex. BMS PBX tune/13-20 hp/ $200-$300

You won't get much more power from the N52, and will spend a lot of money to get not-so-great gains. The PowerBox doesn't add much power, it mostly changes throttle response. You could do intake and exhaust for some very small gains, but my advice would be to take the car for what it is and stick with the cosmetic mods.

I had a fully modded 328i and it was stupid. It drove nice but I never got anywhere.

Your going to be looking at $1500 for the Three Stage Intake Manifold swap and a custom tune.

Best thing is to cut out the charcoal filter in the intake box and drop in a aFe or K&N filter. Exhaust you can do Primary cat deletes, secondary cat deletes, or put in some magnaflow high flow cats. Then gut the factory exhaust system (Before secondaries and back) and weld up a magnaflow muffer (#11xxx). That;s it. Also if you have a manual a CDV works too.

+1 I too own a 325i with a PBX and after having bought it I can honestly tell you, save your money, because that $1500 is going to be the best bang for your buck, and won't work with PBX either.

+1 on the save your money part. However.... if you just have an itch to do something to your engine look into mods that "turn" it into a 330i. Start at adding a 3 stage intake and work from there.

If I were you though I would just do some exterior mods. It goes a long way in making the car look better and can make it look and "feel" faster in your mind.

you didnt like the pbx? i always thought it seemed like one of the mods worth getting just to get rid of that lag when you tap the gas (not so much for the hp gains).

I like it but it bothers me that if i HADN'T purchased it, i'd be about a third of the way saved up for the 3-stage manifold and tune.

today, being a brighter, better me, i would advise anyone modding a 325i to save money for the manifold and tune.

Exactly plus it's worthless once you get a tune for the IM swap.

I have a 2006 325i too. Looking at the engine/performance mods to gain a teeny tiny bit more hp, I decided it was worthless to pursue. As far as the motor and tranny goes, I am doing a nice tune-up, CDV, short shift kit, the charcoal filter and exhaust tips. My money is going more towards suspension. Then maybe I reevaluate getting a cold air intake. Not sold on the powerbox (more responsive throttle "feel"....how does it do that? Just makes it as if my 1 to 1 input on the throttle is 1 to 3?)

i would say your 1:3 ratio is about right, it is more responsibe, i DID pick up a bit more power in the mid to high rpm range. but ehhhhhhh, this is no jb3.
