Horsemanure.

You can pick any two cars and find one thing from the "lesser" car that is superior to the other.

It is the whole package that counts - and the Taurus loses.

Are the two even in the same weight class? Why not just put the Taurus up against an A8 and really show how much faster it is??? FAIL!

The Audi is a bit slow, but this comparison makes no sense. I remember Pontiac used to try and compare the Bonneville to the Lexus GS400 years ago saying that it was faster in a straight line as well. Really?!?!

Not sure who the target market of "idiots" Ford is trying to identify by making this comparison.

Bottom line... it's still a Ford. Who wants to pay $45k for a Ford??

It would seem more logical for Ford to target the Pontiac G8, Buick Lacrosse and Chevy Impala rather than the Audi.

Let's see the same race again, but in the snow.
I mean the Ford is a good enough car, for somebody who's not really into cars. But to compare it against an Audi? WTF?

The taurus is AWD - it would not be at any more of a disadvantage..

But, if might have a hp advantage in THIS test - which was probably at 3500+ feet if the terrain is any indication.

Haha! I had a feeling someone would bring that up. And I'm sure people would pay $60k for a Roush as well. I'm definitely not knocking them by any means cause my friend has a Shelby and it's definitely BA. But IMO if I'm going to spend $60k on a car it would be a C63 AMG before a Shelby.

Wonder why Ford didn't pick on BMW 528i or E300? Different market or demographics? Ehm

Sounds like a 550i is a porky pig, then.

Outstopped by a Ford....

Ford is sort of like a fat chick that just lost 50lbs. Girl is looking better but she has no business talking crap to the model looking girls. She needs to lose another 20lbs, and gets rid of the stretch marks. Maybe then people will take notice.

Ugh another one of these threads?

The SHO is a good car, Ford or not.... And Ford is by far the best American automaker to go with at this point, releasing competitors at all levels. The 5.0, Fiesta, Fusion, new Focus, and the Taurus (especially the SHO) all in the span of only a few years.... All are at least competitors for the top of their classes.

Seriously, hating the car simply because it's a Ford? Isn't that a little ignorant (unless you're a NACAR fan on another side of the manufacturer's cup). Ford obviously must make only complete crap.... Otherwise, how would they be the #1 automaker abroad in a place like the UK? Makes perfect sense....

I love my car, but I bet the SHO wouldn't have had the HPFP die twice on my car and once on a loaner while my car was in the shop.... I'm wondering if the SHO exhibits as many rattles and peeling interior pieces as my car. I'm wondering if the electrical system in the SHO goes haywire anytime it's over 80F outside. I'm wondering if the SHO has amazingly consistent orange peel. I'm wondering if Ford is going to dig for reasons to deny warranty claims at every opportunity. I'm wondering if the SYNC system is alright (rhetorical; it's better than IDrive).

And after I'm done wondering all that, I'll wonder what I'll do with the $9k list difference between the SHO and my car....

Realistically speaking, badge whores are the reason why BMW thinks it can get away with all this recent quality bullshit that they've been pulling.... People who sit here and will buy it just for the badge, and defend the badge with ignorant fanboy attitudes allow them to pump out shit on that assembly line and not have to worry about surviving as a company. It sucks.
