I am a firm believer that you should get the best tires you can afford, if GE are the best you can get, get them.

Here you go:

By the way after reading his thread I bought a set for my 19's. Tire rack has them rated as the number 1 UHP tires on their website. Just because they're not "NAME" doesn't mean they can't be great quality. Plus for the price you cant beat them.

Hope this helps

get it from tire rack... and then get it mounted somewhere else.
tirerack will get it for ~300 dollars cheaper. and it costs ~15 bucks per tire to mount. 800 bucks is a ripoff. the tires themselves are good. the place ur getting them at, is not (price-wise)

Agreed, I'll take it a step further. If you absoutely have to get tires right now (i.e. the current set are toasted), get the best tires you have the money for as we speak. But, if you are simply looking for tires that you'll need in 60+ days then get the best based on what kind of money you'll have at that point, (i.e. you have $1000 now but you could save up an additional $500 in the next 60 days).

You should never compromise when purchasing tires. They are too important. This is a melodramatic statement, but the difference between a $800 set of tires (General, Dunlop, etc.) and a $1200 (PS2's, Pirelli, etc.) set of tires is only $400 and that $400 could be the difference between whether you live or die if the shit hits the fan.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that General's, Dunlop's, etc. are bad tires. But when you end up in a situation where the difference between staying on the road or ending up in the ditch is 5% better grip, or when slamming on the brakes to keep from running under a semi that's run a red light you need to stop 5-10 feet quicker then the "average" tire, I know which set of tires I'd want on my car.
